Bringing the heart of the river to more cities
First off – we hope you’re all keeping well, especially now that flu season has arrived to join the pandemic.
As with so many events this summer, plans for an encore presentation of UNINTERRUPTED on Vancouver’s Cambie Bridge had to be halted due to Covid-19.
But… our cinematic salmon are learning to swim in virtual reality!
We’ve lifted the site-specific work from its moorings on the bridge at Coopers’ Park and it’s now being re-imagined as a VR experience. A huge thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts for their ongoing support, and financial assistance with this innovation.
So – to the often asked question – Is UNINTERRUPTED coming back? The answer is now YES!
If you live in greater Vancouver we’re working on a plan to bring a public event to a neighbourhood near you next year.
The Metro Vancouver Summer 2021 VR Tour
Our Metro Vancouver Summer 2021 VR tour has planned stops in five cities in the lower mainland.
Bringing people together in 2017 was part of what made UNINTERRUPTED memorable, which is why we’re planning free, outdoor synchronized VR events for 2021. Imagine 20 people at a time, seats physically distanced and with individual headsets, being immersed together. We’re planning on two weeks in each city, with showings late in the day and evenings. A big thanks to Metro Vancouver and their Regional Cultural Grants program, and to the Real Estate Foundation of BC. Their early support has really helped to kickstart the 2021 tour.

UNINTERRUPTED Wins at 2020 VIFF Immersive Market
The UNINTERRUPTED team was invited to pitch at the 2020 VIFF Immersive Market and – we won! With thanks to the Microsoft Mixed Reality Capture Studio in San Francisco we now have a fantastic package of services – and some great ideas on how to use them.
We appreciate all the efforts of VIFF and Kaleidoscope in putting the virtual event together – and of course Microsoft – for putting up a super prize. Kudos too to Omid Zarei & Anne Jeppesen (A VOCAL LANDSCAPE) who were also winners.
